Carbon nanotubes:

extend the service life of batteries.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina have discovered that carbon nanotubes may be used to extend the service life of batteries. The reason: nanotubes are able to store almost twice as much energy as the conventional graphite electrodes used in lithium rechargeable batteries.
